Just a day after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building to carry out an insurrection, Donald Trump has been issued an arrest warrant for premeditated murder.
According to @abc, an arrest warrant for Donald Trump was issued Thursday in connection with the killing of an Iranian general and a powerful Iraqi militia leader last year, Iraq’s judiciary said.
“An arrest warrant against the outgoing President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has been issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 406 of the Iraqi Penal Code,” Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council confirmed in a statement on Thursday, adding that the investigations would continue “to identify others who participated in committing this crime, whether they are Iraqis or foreigners.”
A judge issued the warrant after being tasked by the Baghdad investigative court who was responsible for probing the Washington-directed drone strike that killed Gen. Qassim Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, according to reports.
The killings were reportedly ordered by Trump, and according to The United Nations special rapporteur for extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Agnes Callamard, they are described as “arbitrary” and “illegal,” CBS reports.
According to reports, the arrest warrant won’t likely be carried out. But many believe that this is very symbolic to Trump’s gloomy last days as president.
