Sony has been letting certain members of the Japanese press play around with the PS5.
As promised, as part of YouTube Gaming Week in Japan, several key members of the press – including Famitsu, along with many influencers, were offered a chance to be among the first in the world to play games on a PS5.
Thanks to these first impressions, we now know that PS5 runs very quiet. Unfortunately, none of the people who went hands-on were allowed to show the console’s UI, something Sony has yet to publicly demonstrate.
Because of this, we don’t actually have footage of PS5’s game suspend feature, which allows users to switch between one of several running games in a matter of seconds and pick up right where they left off.
What we do get plenty of are impressions of the new DualSense controller. The videos are all in Japanese, of course, but you can get the general gist thanks to the many closeups. Outside of that, there’s plenty of direct-capture gameplay of Godfall, and the pre-installed Astro’s Playroom.
The PS5 launches beginning November 12. Bookmark our PS5 pre-order page and check regularly as stock comes and goes.
