Boss of WPP says advertising giant is poised to go on buying spree after patching up finances

The boss of WPP says the advertising giant is poised to go on a buying spree after patching up its finances.

Mark Read said the firm was now in ‘better shape’ after he launched a turnaround plan in 2018 and simplified its vast structure.

‘It is time to start to look at how we grow,’ the 53-year-old told the Financial Times.

WPP was built into a global empire by former boss Sir Martin Sorrell.

However, his successor Read has reduced its brands from 484 to 250, merged agencies and sold data business Kantar.
